IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR INTERNET BANKING USERS

Heritage Isle Credit Union take the security of your internet banking accounts seriously. Detailed below is information regarding security features on the site.

1)     Date of Birth Input with PINPAD

2)     Scrambled PINPAD

3)     CAPTCHA Testing

Date of Birth

The Date of Birth input adds an extra layer of login protection, as most people have little difficulty remembering their own date of birth, but few would be tempted to write it down. The date of birth will be required on login page.

Scrambled PINPAD

Pin pads require the user to click on the number in a popup keypad that appears on the screen when activated. The numbers in the Pin pad keys are arranged randomly and the number cannot be entered directly into the text box.

CAPTCHA

CAPTCHA is an acronym for “Completed Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart”

The system uses a reverse Turing test, named after Alan Turing who invented the Turing test to determine a machine’s capability to perform human-like responses. A reverse Turing test is designed to determine whether the user is a human rather than a machine or program.

Basically, the CAPTCHA program can generate and grade tests that most humans can pass, but most automated routines and computer programs cannot pass. For example, most people can read distorted text or text that has a pattern through it. Computer programs and automated routines generally can not read this code accurately. The code is changed each time the user accesses the login page, so even if the code is obtained, it is not suitable for later use.

Please contact our Internet Banking hotline 63 342510 or your local branch should you have any questions relating to these internet banking security enhancements.
