Where you may find Santa after Christmas

Our top 5 international christmas holiday destinations.

Return to 25 days of Christmas

While a Christmas break may sound like a great idea, sometimes it’s better to postpone your getaway until after the holidays to make the best use of your money and time. Not only does it mean you can spend Christmas day with family and friends, but you’re also less likely to compete with crowds and high season prices when heading to a popular destination.

This year, we decided to ask Santa what his top five holiday destinations are after a busy Christmas period.

  1. Thailand
Whether you’re looking for a beach holiday in the south or a mountain adventure in the north, January and February are the best months to travel to Thailand with beautiful weather and comfortable temperatures,

While Christmas may linger in the bigger cities, smaller towns might not celebrate it at all. This offers you a great chance to escape from the busy festive period and retreat to a beach in the sun. Additionally, with strong exchange rates, you can get the most out of your hard earned money while eating your way through some of the best cuisine in the world.

  2. Moscow, Russia
Endless snowfall, stunning architecture and ice skating in Red Square will see you soaking in the best Moscow has to offer. Moscow’s Christmas festival lasts until January 14, with each district participating in the winter activities. After a bit of down time, Santa recommends that you wander the streets, taking the chance to relax and have one last look at the Christmas cheer.
  3. Vancouver, Canada
After finishing his work for the season, Santa enjoys a soak in a hot tub after a long day carving up Whistler’s slopes. With the largest ski area in North America, he loves to hone his skills and get away from it all behind his ski mask. Santa says that fresh snowfall is more likely the two months after Christmas, making it the perfect time for you to get out on the slopes.
  4. Salzburg, Austria
Connecting with his more folk traditional roots may influence Santa to head to Austria after he’s done his world trip dropping off presents. Krampus and Percht get up to mischief in Salzburg’s streets for the holiday season, and the fairy-tale atmosphere that pulls on the old Christmas stories brings an unforgettable touch to the experience, even after the actual holiday is over.
  5. Hokkaido, Japan
Japan is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the top skiing destinations, drawing Santa in every few years. After a quick stop over in Tokyo and a visit to the Harajuku district for some new clothes, he recommends that you head to Hokkaido to spend a week or so on the powder with a ramen to warm you up at the end of the day.
